Becoming President of the United States

Who does not want to be President of the U. S. of A, but what are the odds of that, the top job in the entire world, a billion to one. Well, at least in my knowledge base date of Jan. 2022, only 46 people have ever been that, out of hundreds of millions and millions of people to be in a nation, but to be the President of the United States is nothing to sneeze at, very rare and competitive.

Winning an Olympic Gold Medal

Everyone who has competed in the Olympics spent their entire life dreaming about standing on that top step and receiving that gold medal, but the chance of that is one in a million. Or how about the odds of one athlete beating everyone else and winning a gold medal in the Olympics are about 1 in millions (I don't know the exact odds, but I'm sure they are staggering of course it would depend on the sport and number of competitors.

Finding a Rare Meteorite

Discovering a rare meteorite is a true cosmic rarity. The chances of stumbling upon one while walking in your backyard are minuscule. And of those few that are discovered and recognized, most of them are discovered by professional meteorite hunters, and scientific missions.

Surviving a Plane Crash

Is the lottery a pure luck?

Being Struck by a Meteorite

Slim to none, but not none, are the odds of being struck by a meteorite. Well, not really, because there have been a few reported cases of people actually being struck by meteorites, so this would be an extremely unlikely event.

I'm not saying that winning the lottery isn't a big deal because it is, but it is only one of those once in a lifetime things, and as we've seen, there are a lot more things in life that are even more rare that that. To be president of the united states, or to survive a plane crash, or to be the first person to find a new species, all of that stuff is so improbable. Those are scary odds but just prove that life is surprising and wonderful and while the chances are like one in a million sometimes those are the ones that interest us the most.
